antler catch

Hey all, I use to be registered on here under a different name. Now after a couple of computer crashes and email changes I'm back. I have been lurking all season and now I have a question. A year or so ago I saw someone's plans for a feeder box that was designed to knock off the antlers when they are ready. If I remember correctly the one that I'm thinking of also had some sort of drop tray to keep them off of the ground. When I first saw it, I wanted to build one this time last year but I never got to it. So I definitely want to get a couple out here shortly.

Does anyone have any plans, pictures, or descriptions that can help me out? I have a couple of ideas, but my major concern is theopening size.

Just curious, why not take a walk and look for them the old fashioned way?

If you must know one of the pieces of property that I hunt has a very bad buck to doe ratio. The property is also small and landlocked by mostly non-hunted land. Which is nice b/c we have been able to only harvest does from it and are finally seeing the results. It is also bad b/c the few bucks that are in the area roam the entire valley, almost all of which I can not just walk thru. This has made shed hunting pretty unsuccessful. I have pictures of them at the feeder, so draw your own conclusions as to why I'm wanting to do this.

Just to let you know, on the 200 acre farm that I also hunt I have been successful finding sheds while post season scouting.

Alot of the world is not wide open country that you can stroll through and look for sheds. I have areas of my place that I am not sure a snake can crawl through.

I have tried an antler catch but have not had any luck.

Samewith half ofthissmall property too, retrieverman. I can't even take my ATV through it without ripping a fender off.

With the catches that you have tried, did you see any signs of antlers at least hitting where they were intended?

I put a Camtrakker on mine, and the bucks wouldn't get close enough to bump it.

TRUST ME GET A SHED COLLECTOR. You can find them online for like 50-75 bucks . I have one. its like a spacle bucket with bungy cords coming off the top. If the antlers are ready to fall off then they normally fall right there. If the antlers are not ready to fall off then the cords release the antlers and it dosnt scare the buck away.

Throw a few handfulls of corn in thickets like plum bushes when the antlers get close. Most of them will knock off in the bushes.
