does deer trackin come to instinct or is it just the type and behavior of your dog..

going to get my dog into it for a BIG help next year

That all depends, What kind of dog is it?
How old is it?
I had my Bluetic in the bush at 4 months and he started then.
I think it depends on the breed and how much time is put into it.
And some dont take anything they seem to just pick it up on there own and that is a good dog..

u talkin bout hammer? well if u r ill help u train him tomorrow.. it might work. ull have to stop rabbit huntin him i think but im not sure

Rabbit hunting him will not matter if hes huntin rabbit he knows how to use his nose I have seen alot of great deer trackin dogs and in the off season the guys run them on rabbit

Mabye to late now or mabye you have tried but if you can get a hot blood trail that is the time to try him they get a taste for that and all hell breaks loose whenever he hits it again.

u could just get some blood from a rabbit or squirrel or something u kill and drop all over the yard with eyedropper.. then give a reward at the end.. i read up on it and it sed on the internet it didnt matter what kind of blood u used.

Another thing I do is after I get a deer or two when the butchering is all done I throw the dogs the legs to chew on with the hair and knee glands still attached this I think gives them a scent that will stay with them they smell it in the bush and they think ah bones to chew on....
Call me crazy but We got some good dogs

yeah a guy i know does all that too.. and that is one fine tracking dog i tell ya... i cant wait till i get a dog.

That could be true I never tried it but woud'nt it be better to keep them on the bloodof the animalyou are training that dog for..........I dont know?
