Who has seen Coyotes in NC?
 

Who has seen coyotes in NC? Where were you near...city/county? I'm only asking b/c I think I heard one howl while out deer hunting earlier.

last time i saw any was the first week of turkey season... in east iredell county
two of them must have been neer by when i started calling...they got pretty close but i never got a shot.
i've heard the howling a lot since then tho.

They're all over the place! We lease land in Anson and Richmond County. In 2005, I shot one while deer hunting (at the taxidermist for a full body mount). This year, I called one in with calls downloaded from the internet (from a CD player).

I've seen a dead one on the way to Charette and my boyfriend's hunting club has killed two in Franklin Co.

im from NC but we moved to ohio (wich is ok cuz we have the best whitetail huntingin the nation).
but me and my dad never remember ever seeing cyotes in NC il have to call my friends who live in the outskirts of Raliegh and they hunt.

Guilford, Alamance, Rockingham, and Caswell. The most we've seen is in Caswell, but we live in Guilford and even with the houses..they are getting pretty plentiful!

I live in Stokes County and many have been sited. They are real bad on the VA line for killing livestock and other animals.

i seen one while deer hunting here in yadkin county. it kind of startled me when i realized what it was, at first i thought it was some kind of german sheperd mix then i looked at it through my scope and realized it was a coyote. i think im going to try to put him on his back in the next couple of weeks ;)

My dad recently mentioned he saw what looked like a coyote running in the field behind the house.

HunterKel there are coyotes in almost every state now. I life on the boarder of NC/SC and hear them at night while getting out of the stand. So far I have not seen one while hunting. As from what I have observed and been told it is not common to actually see them.

As for NC the orgins from what I have read at NC Wildlife started with fox hunters bringing them in. I couldn't readily find the article but there is on about it. They bread like rabbits so they can mulitply very quick. The only major problems are a couple rabid ones in the Raleigh area. Other than that they probally do a good job of killing off the weaker deer thus providing better deer managment. I know thats a subject for debate but DNR has not found a reason to mass kill them yet just allow for the killing of them year round.

Stokes, Rockingham, Yadkin, Surry, and Forsyth Co. I have seen yotes in.
