Indiana Buck Pic & Story
 

I don't post a lot on here, but I read the board regulary and I know how much everyone likes the pic and the stories so here is mine...

I hunted around a corn stubble field for my evening hunt on 11/21. At about 5:15 and a couple of hours of not seeing anything I decided to move to a "bottom" hay field for the last few minutes of shooting light. As I was easing around the point I was sitting in I noticed this buck along with a doe feeding in the corn field. They were above me due to fact that the field is very rolling. I immediately dropped to my knees and glassed the buck and decided he was a shooter. At this point the deer has fed out of my line of sight. I crawled through the corn stubble to get on the same plane as the deer. I ranged him at 108 yds. He dropped in his tracks. I use a Remington 11-87 12 Gauge, outfitted with a Leopold Scope, fully rifled barrel, and Remington Copper Solid slugs.

9 pts/160 lbs



Although he was not the trophy I was looking for it is a trophy nonetheless. His right main beam had about 6 inches broken off compared to the left one.

This is the 5th buck taken off the 350 acres that I hunt (Morton Area-Western Putnam County-Indiana) with the biggest weighing 248 lbs. Next year we (future bro-in law) hope to institute a management program but it will take some cooperation from the future in-laws regarding the hutning pressure that these deer have faced this season. We also intend to plant food plots (Whitetail Institute Imperial Clover).

Sorry to ramble, I thought some might enjoy the picture and the story.
