No, my whole life is not ruined if i do not kill a buck. Just want some meat for chili and jerky. This year i did get a decent buck for the first time in a very long while.i am secure in the fact that i have gottenone 190+ and one200+ buck - one in 1965 and the other in 1969.

If I enjoy myself it's not a failure. Whether or not I harvest a buck or a deer at all isn't as important as having fun. I won't starve if I don't kill one so I'm there for the experience, not for a mount or meat. I feel the same about fishing. I don't catch a monster bass everytime I go out, sometimes I won't even get a bite, but if I enjoy myself I'm satisfied with the effort.

Alot of my hunting stories have no deer mentioned in them.I may be disapointed if i didnt see any bucks all year.I hunt alot so if i dont see anything, something is wrong. However, when i do see a monster and dont get him, thats what keeps me coming back.Thank God i never got into gambeling,Because im the same way about fishing. As soon as i pick up my fishing pole and gas up the boat,I might as well be on the moon, cause i wont be home. That will continue till bow seasion opens...........

The only wayI would not kill a buck would be to pass a bunch, therefore that would be my choice. I might be disappointed in not seeing what I was looking for, but I don't think I would ever consider that a failure.

Time afield with family and friends is what it is all about. Killing an animal is secondary.
That's exactly how I feel about it too. I didn't shoot a deer this year. I had oppourtunities to do so, (does) but decided I didn't need any meat due to a freind killing an Elk out west and giving me some of it. I just enjoy being out there in the woods.

that is a definate no. when i was too young to hunt i always got up with my dad and followed im to the farm we all meet at in the mornings. then i would stay there all day till they all came back. when i was finally old enough to hunt i didnt even care that i only saw one deer 300 yards away all weekend. i enjoy talkin with the guys more than the actual hunting sometimes. its all about gettin together and havin fun. gettin deer is just an extra perk that comes along with it. plus chicks dig the blaze orange gang goin into the resturaunt for lunch ;)
