Default moose and deer hunting

do the moose have an impact on the deer? here in ma. i have never seen so much moose sign tracks, poop, and trees that i guess that they are knawing the bark of them. they look like rubs, but they are to high for deer. anyways i heard from a biologist that the moose will eat the bark off the trees. my question is do the deer get used to the moose, or is it bad for the deer? or will the moose just run the deer of to another area?

Default RE: moose and deer hunting

I started a thread on this very subject in another forum. I hunt mostly northern VT and NH and I am used to seeing more moose then deer and used to think that they chased the deer away. They browse higher then deer and were just big dumbobnoxious neighbors. This year, however, I've changed my mind for a couple of reasons. First of all, they seemed to have different diets. At least up here the moose feed mostly on the bark of striped maples and other tree bark. I don't see deer doing that. Secondly, moose seem to range fartherthen whitetails and often are moving through an area.

So I think there is a little impact to the deer movements, but not much.Turkeyshave a far biggerimpact then moose. But that is another discussion.
