Do whitetails like to run crooked and stop?
 

What I mean is do you think that whitetails, when they bust you or you miss them, initially run straight in a direction and then take a left or right and then stop to look back? I have had this happen many more times than one just taking off and running straight and not stopping.

deer are curious..they run untill they feel safe then take a look so see just what you are....

Lot of times they bolt, stop, look, then leave. That is if they were not spooked to badly. As for after a shot, only when they are mortaly hurt, or missed. That has been my experience.

I think they're curiosity plays a big role in it all. If they were just spooked, I think they'll bolt and stop and check, and possibly loop back downwind. I've had that happen a few times...
