I would say the -20's is where i call it quits and sometimes i take a little heater with me to sit in this old barn. Don't matter how much clothes you have on or how tough ya are, after -20 you can only sit in the stand so long without having to move. If you keep moving spot and stalking all day it is really not bad at all but i do not think i could ever sit in an unheated stand all day and bowhunt with -20 something bearing down on me.

Forgot to mention, all that cold hunting was done from the ground, theres no way in hell Id sit 15 ft up a tree when its that cold out:D

I can outlast a deers comfort... when they get cold and decide to go for a walk to warm up.... i'll be ready....
theres plenty of time in the off season to get warm.:) |

I only have problems with the tips of my toes. I guess I need better socks and boots, but when you're sitting so still right before sunrise it just finds its way in everytime.... |

ORIGINAL: tschaef I won't let it stop me, but I do have to climb down to warm up once in a while, a short walk does wonders. At the farm I hunt most I have a few permanent stands up (wooden pallets), when I just can't take it anymore I will climb down and walk to another stand, by the time I've climbed into the new stand I'm ready for a few more hours of being still. |

Its to cold when you don't enjoy it anymore. For some that may be 20 below and for some it may be 30 above.

I agree with the bowstring idea.If you cant hold a bead on a leaf or a similar small target with your bow back,your too cold,and have to do something to fix it.You dont want to go maming a deer.

just last week here in mn. it was cold! but the best part of that was i saw alot of deer and NO other hunters! i got on some deer but didnt let one fly (muzzle loader)., then this last part of the week and it warmed up ., and all the hunters from bird hunters to deer hunters were out ., and i didnt see any deer either., i like to hunt the cold the colder the better., deer feed,., bed to feed ., feed to bed!! easy to pattern~!
