DNR in my state
Anyone else dont really think that their DNR in the state you hunt is making very good rules. I believe we have to many doe tags. I dont know what to do about it. I have emailed them but never gotten back to me on it. Any ideas what I could do?

RE: DNR in my state
Usually not alot! In north MN where I hunt I have the same problem!! The thing is they give permits for such big areas that sometimes you get stuck in an area that hold alot of deer 10 or 20 miles away, but not in your immediate area!
In my instance, the deer herd on the North Shore of Lake Superior is very large, but 15 miles inland, not near as large. We, however, are in the same doe permit area! This year because of the large heard, we were allowed to shoot 4 does! If you added all the days that each guy at our shack hunted we logged 102 days with 10 guys, and we only got 4 deer and saw 4 more! I might add that we hunt over 1000 acres of land!!! I know the heard is much larger than the 8 deer we saw, but it's not large enough for each hunter to take 4 does and a buck!!! All I can do is keep requesting that they change the area borders!!! I, however, doubt it will ever happen!!!! |
RE: DNR in my state
Wildlife and its populations vary from state to state, so some hunters have it better than others. If you really find a regulation to be unnecessary, you can petition the department to change it. I would recommend attending the public hearings the DNR holds when it considers changing regulations each year. That's about all you can do except support pro-gun/pro-hunting polticians in your state government.

About the only thing I can do if they dont change the laws on doe tags. Myself just dont take that many doe. Does it really help when the guy in the next woods will but every doe tag he can?

1224, in general, just about every area needs the does thinned. I don't know who you tried to contact but I would suggest that you focus your aim to the biologists. What is Indiana's balance currently? Do they do an EAB program?

RE: DNR in my state
i proposed this to the DNR a year or so ago (this is in michigan) I think that the ONLY TIME you should be able to shoot does is the first 3 weeks of october. because after that most get breed and our pregnant so if you want more bucks you need to let the does go later in the season. this is sooooooooooooo obvious to me i will NEVER shoot a doe once i start seeing chasing going on!
