RE: mineral blocks
I hunt around salt marshes.Seems Deer get plenty of salt in their diet as they simply don't mess with any kind of salt blocks.Big waste of money in my area.Went up to PA few years ago to scout a farm. The owner had salt blocks everywhere. The deer tore em up!

RE: mineral blocks
Salt blocks seem to work up here pretty well for elk and deer. What works best is if you leave them out for months to let them soak into the soil then they tear it up pretty good. I usually split a block in half and use a half at each location.

RE: mineral blocks
If you really want deer to benefit from them and grow larger racks, not just get larger bodies, buy mineral blocks that are actually for deer. If you go to your local feed store and buy a salt block or mineral block for livestock, it may help, but they are ment for gaining weight, not groing larger antlers. I'm not saying that they won't help, because I know salt blocks attract them, and mineral blocks that my uncle uses for his cattle get tore up, but I still use ones that are for DEER because I figure that is what they are for, so why not.

RE: mineral blocks
I never had much luck with the mineral blocks - but - Molasses ! Now they will tear that stuff up anytime, anywhere - and a bottle is pretty cheap.
