RE: Picture of Strange Deer.
Have you ever seen a cow or horsethat has "foundered". It happens when they eat too much feed/grass. The long turned up hoves is a direct result of foundering. Any cattle farms around or maybe hunter using feeders? Has a good rack!

ORIGINAL: mr.backstrap Have you ever seen a cow or horsethat has "foundered". It happens when they eat too much feed/grass. The long turned up hoves is a direct result of foundering. Any cattle farms around or maybe hunter using feeders? Has a good rack! this was from my cousins e-mail: He's from MN. This was in the Sunday's edition of the Winona Daily. This buck was a truck kill near Alma. DNR said that high protein, specifically corn was the cause of the abnormal feet. The deer is currently sitting in the alma bait shop freezer. |
RE: Picture of Strange Deer.
Bet that poor fella had a hard time walking.

Poor feller would have been outfited for snow season though........He could have skied down the hills.

RE: Picture of Strange Deer.
Same thought here - Soy beans much higher Protein than Corn - High in Carbs??? Either the story/paper/DNR is wrong or there's something else about the corn in this specific area that would cause this condition??
|
RE: Picture of Strange Deer.

never seen anything like it, crazy

RE: Picture of Strange Deer.
Corn is a terrible source for protein, very low. Its a carbohydrate.
|
RE: Picture of Strange Deer.
Deer have been eating corn as long as man has been growing corn. That can't be it, can it?
