Default where do the deer go

I know I have deer around seen them on my camera usally its dark out when I get a group of them together. All season I havent seen many deer at all. Finally I seen a big group. This buck was chaseing four does. Where do these deer hide. There have been sometimes I walk all over my hunting ground and dont jump a single deer.

That is how it was this year during shotgun season, the deer seem to be sitting very, very tight this year. I don't know what the deal is. One day out on the stand I saw like 20 deer in about an hour....since then I have seen a few yearlings here and there with a couple small bucks thrown in the mix.

That might be part of your problem. If you are walking all over your land, the deer are probably on one of your neighbor's properties with less human activity. Daytime human activity will shut down daytime deer movement.

Sure is wierd how they can dissapear isnt it? When the rut is on is one thing, after pressure is applied to them is another. But they are there , you see the tracks and the spoor. Thing is they range your land at night or go to the thick stuff. We see most of our deer just at daylight or just at dark when there isnt a full moon.Nocturnal deer will drive you crazy.Try doing your scouting in the off season, and other than that sneak in and sneak out. Good luck.

I read an article that had 25 hunters make a pass by on 10 acres with 50 or so deer on the land. Not one deer was sighted. Yes they can hide very very well. Now I may have the numbers skewd but it was similar.
