First buck took 3years

I have been hunting for three years now and i finally caught a break. Every year i take a couple does and never really see many bucks. This year i must have done something right. I guess '' something right'' must have been getting mad and going back towards my truck half our after daylight. I had been watching an open field that never has deer in it for more than the first few minutes of daylight. After not seeing anything i deceided to pull out and go elsewhere. Just got back to the truck ( 200 yards away) when i turned around and right where i had been laying in a fence row stood the biggest buck i had seenin person. before i knew it i was laying flat on my gut with him in the scope. I will post a picture as soon as my wife gets home to show me what im doing wrong..

Try uploading a pic on a website like www.photobucket.com or http://www.imageshack.us/ Then it will give you the link and you can post it.

Does anyone have an idea on how this buck would score?

Holy crap! What a buck! It will be a long time before you top that one. I don't know what he'll score but he'll score very good as symetrical as that rack is and a genuine 12, wow. Let us know when you get him scored.

I have never caped one, so i have to wait til tommorrow night to get my buddy to cape him right and then he goes to the taxi. I should know a green score tommorrow. They say you should shoot a small one so you can top it easier....Im screwed!!

I must finally be doing something right. This is the first year i have seen any good bucks. It pays to do the research and sit still.

WOW JCB ... great buck and very nice symmetrical rack to boot!! One day I'll be lucky enough to take a trophy whitetail like this one ... some day soon I hope. ;) How did the cape job turn out? I was told to not cut the throat to bleed 'em if I wanted to mount a deer - looks like you cut it's throat, right?

Im still waiting for the guy to get here to cape him out. No, i didnt cut his throat. It has a bullit hole in his neck from the kill shot. I had to put a second round in him because he didnt want to lay down and wait for me.LOL I lost a big one once... Hopfully never again.

thank you for the praise. It is a trophy of a lifetime for me. It is at the taxidermist and I already have a spot picked out on the wall where he can live happily ever after.

RE: First buck took 3years

It may take me another few years to get another one. Went bowhunting last night and at thirty yards i shot a fence post that I didnt see. The deer just looked at me. I think it was smirking at me. Didnt have the heart to take another shot. You know how hard it is to hit a T-post at thirty yards? LOL
