Hey post what kind of riffle you use, or what pound bow?

I use a .243 and a 7mm-08

shotguns?? i usually hunt with my bowtech liberty vft with 64 lb draw, and for rifle i use a remington 700 .270, and depending on where i hunt i use my remington 870 12 ga.

You forgot about shotguns, in which case it's 12ga 2 3/4"! Oh, one of these days I'll get a proper slug gun and maybe even a rifle...

I hunt with a 68lbs. bow, 12ga.shotgun and 50cal. muzzleloader. Depending on the mood and area I'm hunting. Mostly hunt with my bow.

IM 15, and I hunt with a 70lb Hoyt and a .270 Rem 710.

I shoot most of my deer with my 7mm08 or a 30/30 Ackley. My bow is a Hoyt Pro-Tec that pulls at 73#s, which is more than is practical or needed, but for some reason it is much quieter thanwhen I crank it down to 60. I can pull it either way...so big deal.


PS: What of this 30-08 I read about? Is that a bastard child of a 30-06 and a 308?

On the bow I shoot at 65 lbs and for the rifle I use a .270 Savage.

You left out hand guns

I use a S & W model 19 - 357 magnum

With 158 Grain JHP & 158 Grain JSP

I hope to move up to a 41 magnum some day.

But for now the 357 magnum is good.

After all if I can get a deer in bow range about 35 to 40 yards.
A 357 magnum will do just fine.

CVA Apollo .50 cal.muzzleloader. I don't like target practicing with high powered rifles, I prefer to get more up close and personal with the animal I'm hunting. Bow hunting I use Oneida Eagle Aeroforce set at 68#.

70lbs on my bow. 50cal black powder and my fav. rifle is my .308

Bowtech mighty might set at 60 lbs, H&R Ultra slug gun, Browning A-5 smoothbore and a Remington 700ML inline muzzle loader.

No high powered rifles where I live, I wouldn't mind getting a .243 to play with though.

Well I'm an experienced marksman...begining in Military School. I have been shooting since I was 10. I have been using a Russian made Mosin Nagant in 7.62x54 Those of you that have shot this gun KNOW how powerful the rounds are. I took it to the range just to see how it compared to 30-06, .308, and .270. The .270 was the most accurate of the four. Inside 100m with iron sites I was able to consistantly put a 2.5 to 3.0" pattern. However, The 7.62x54 had BY FAR the greatest penetration. Next up in penetration was the .308 I shot through a peice of .5 inch buss steel from an electric transformer. It actually caved the metal in while cutting a nice hole clean through. The 30-06 and the .270 made dents in the steel, and the .308 made a deep dent with a see-through crack in the metal. In hardwoods where I hunt mostly, I dont need a scope inside 100m. The Mosin Nagant will literally gut a deer in the exit and knock it down fast. All tested bullets were copper coated FMJ, however, I hunt with soft tip. TIP: Get a Mosin Nagant...they retail for about 120-150$ and well worth every penny....average box of FMJ is 4-5$
