Cutting trails

I just got another small farm to hunt. About 100 acres. To small fields and about 75 acres are woods. Some Pine and some small hard woods. Pretty clean. I went in today and started clearing out some lanes. Its gonna take about a week for me finish and get a stand in there. That leaves 5 weeks of season. How long after I'm done will it take to get the deer back? Or wiil it not bother them at all? I'm using a maschette, lops and cordless saw zall. No chain saw needed. Will I have success this year in there? Or is it to much change?

RE: Cutting trails

I have mowed trails and had deer use them that night, but as far as hunting those trails, it might take a little time for them to adjust. I've also built ground blinds and had deer go in and inspect them that night, but never had to worry about deer coming into the blind in the day when I was in there, lol.

What i would do is find some good travel corridors put a stand up then make some shooting lanes. i wouldnt do to much dont want to get them feeling to awkward in there own woods.

GOODLUCK

Yea I was going to put a stand up tomorrow so they will have time to get use to it. Then finish the trails. I had to clear some out so I could get some corn put out.
I'llput some sweet potatos and apples outin a couple of days and refresh the corn. Maybe hunt there in 2 weeks.

Either after a rainy day or a week usually works for me. If there is a rainy day in the forecast wait, then sneek in at midday and work you but off to get it finished. Good luck

RE: Cutting trails

we had some loging done last year and their were huge trails that the logers had used to get their equipment down and their were tones of tracks covering their trails just after a weekend and then the trails would be worked over again durring the week and by the end of the weekend they would be covered with tracks so i dont think it bothers them to much
