RE: weird stuff seen?
About six years ago, I was fishing for Striper off of the banks of Lake Lanier. It is in North Georgia. Anyway, I was fishing at night. Night time can be excellent for Stripers on our lake. If you fish at night, the lake has had time to calm down from boats, skiers, ect... It was about 2:00 in the morning on I think a September night. If anyone has been alone, on a deserted part of Lake Lanier at night, then you know it can be creepy. I had been there about two hours, with three poles out, and had not had any bites, eccept this one Blue Catfish. Anyway, I was sitting on a bucket facing the water. I stood up to stretch, and I turned away from the water, back twords the tree line. As I was looking up at the horizon, I saw this green, what appeared to be a fire ball come falling out of the sky and hit a huge pine tree about 100yds away. I could only see the top half of the tree, so I never saw the fire ball hit the ground. Now I have seen my share of meteors in my day. I have never seen a green one. I also have never seen one sort of FALLING out of the sky...only shooting down twords the Earth...know what I mean. I was so suprised by what I saw, I could not beleive it. I called my friend, who lives about a mile from there. I asked him if he had seen anything strange falling out of the sky. He of course said NO, and didnt beleive me. I told eveyone I knew about it, and only my Father beleived me. How can you beleive a wild story like that. Anyway, there was a news story on the Atlanta news about people calling into the station with these crazy UFO sightings...green fireballs falling out of the sky. I was glad to hear that I was'nt the only one to see it, but still never found out exactly what it was. During this ordeal, I managed to miss what I assume was a huge striper. As I was walking around the bank in disbeleif, I could here my line just getting taken out...by the time I got back to the pole to set it, It snapped. Now I had on 40lb test with an 80lb leader...not much in our lake could break that...weird!
