Default I...AM...PAZUZU

Every time I have been on stand this year, it has been wet or windy. Consequently, I haven't been able to hear deer walking. Instead, I have been resigned to keeping my body still, while scoping the brush and tree ridden landscape with my head turning around like the exorcist.

This has educated me in two areas. First and foremost, it has made me more grateful when I hunt in still, dry conditions. I now realize they occur less than a third of the time where I hunt. Second, the one day I did see deer, it reminded me that when you can't hear because of the wind or wet leaves, you can have a deer beneath you and not even know it. The best way to hunt without getting busted by deer in those condition is to not move the body much, but scan your surroundings often.... I.E. BECOME PAZUZU...

I agree. Yet I have had some of my best hunts in a light rain, but as for the wind; Im sick of it.

Just be lucky you CAN hear them on a calm day! My hearing aids don't help in that area at all, I have never heard a deer! I thing that you finding this out has just moved you up the "I'm a good hunter" ladder quite a bit!

Hurry up and wait.
