I was wondering what is the best way to drag your deer out? Should I get a game cart, dead sled, or other? I mostly hunt grassland, with a few thicket patches (usually able to avoid). Sometime in the woods.

bubba its called a gym membership. maybe if you spend some time lifting some weights instead of shopping on ebay you could pull your deer out.

If I ever need something to take deer out I'll probably just bodge something together. I've got an idea to just make something out of a couple bike forks and front wheels with some metal bars or 2x4s holding them together.

If you hunt when snow is on the ground then a sleigh will be easier. I have used crazy carpets toplastic sleighs nothing fancy but they work well. I had to drag out a 300 + mule deer myself last week over a mile of up and down with 6-8" snow, even with a sleigh it was anything but a picnic and I ain't a small fella either[8D]!

If you hunt where snow is rare a cart be a better solution.

Also for loading deer into your truck bed I built an aid a number of years ago when guiding that works slick as snot and cost peanuts. 2 x 4 @6' then 2x2's every 12"(cut at 18" long) and screwed them on like a ladder. I then tie on the rack(or head)and rope around to the rear legs to secure the deer onto the ladder(we'll call it). Pick up the front and place on the tail gate then move around to the rear pick it up and slide the deer & ladder into your truck...done. I have loaded 300lbs deer byself with it thatpreviously would have been a long ordeal. I use it all the time as it takes the strain out of loading a deer, as no worries about the shoulder or legs getting hooked and worse bent over which can give you back troubles.

We don't get a lot of snow down in this end of the state , so the few times it does I use a cheap flat bottomed kid's sled . The rest of the time I either drag with an ATV or 18 hp lawn tractor . I'd like to buy a deer cart someday for when I'm not hunting at home , I could always rig it with small skis if it snowed .

We throw our deer in a Otter sled and drag it up to the fourwheeler trail and then hook it to the fourwheeler and go out from there.

I shotone that dressed out at 185 this tear and used the "DEADSLED" it worked awesome! Its com pact and you can throw it behind the seat of your truck without any problem. Depends on the terrain you have to traverse also. OR you can get the "HERO" in the other posts to grag it out for ya- BUBBA!

I got a cart. I hunt down in river-bottoms, and in the deep woods mostly. If it's an evening kill, I don't want to be out there all night. If you get one, remember, bigger wheels are easier to pull over rough terrain.

I have a cart from Cabelas that is rated to 500 lbs. A couple of years ago I had three deer stacked on it and wheeled them all out in one trip. I vote cart!

I love the deer carts, but I'd like one with air tires. Anyone know where you can get one with that feature?

I use one of the carts rom Bass Pro and it works really well in the woods. It is also helpful when you are trying to get one in the truck by yourself. You can just place one end on the tailgate and lever the rest up into the truck. sort of like a wheelbarrow works. I like mine. We almost never have snow here so it works most all of the time. I've got to use my cart a couple times now, and it's SWEET. One recommendation - make sure you get a cart with a low center of gravity and a wide stance if you're going to be off-roading with it. For fields/roads/trails, it's awesome, but if you're side-hilling on a steep bank, wheeling up over limbs/logs/rocks, mine tends to flip, which can be cumbersome.

If you get him rolling across a field or up a logging road, you can make really good time, and you'll barely break a sweat. I'd highly recommend it. Also, if you've got into a few smaller deer - maybe out doe hunting - you could strap 2-3 of them onto a steel cart and roll them right out. Mine's got some mileage on it now, and a lot more to come. Not a bad investment for $80 bucks, and while it isn't helpful all the time, sooner or later, having that thing in the car will pay off. It's really not all that much bigger than a big treestand anyway, so it doesn't take up a whole lot of space.

why would you want one with air tires? i get what your saying but thats just one more hting you have to worry about if it has air if it doesnt your **** out of luck
