spooked buck will he return?

Went out hunting today.Had been sitting for a couple of hours watching the same spot.I turned my head to look at a spot to my side and then turned my head back to the spot I had been watching and saw a buck standing there broadside looking at me about a 100 yards away. It was like the deer just appeared there, not there one second then there the next. I was camouflaged up real good up in a tree. I believe he saw my head move. I did not have time to react he turned and bounded away. My question is will he return? When he bounded away he did not snort or put his tail up. I'm not sure if he really knew what I was. I am seeing all kinds of doe on this stand. In fact a half hour later after the buck ran off two doe came out to feed. Any advice? My heart sank as the buck bound away. I feel I may have blown my chance for the season..

I would not worry if it's a younger buck. I've had quite a few deer spot me while on stand (even bucks and they've come through later). Since you didn't fire a shot I don't think you spooked it much at all. It will be a little more wary but I would say you will have a good chance of seeing that buck again. I've had the same young buck come by my stand four times in a season. It spooked twice but still came back to within 10 yards of me walking down a trail. If it's an older and wiser buck then it probably will avoid you. They seem harder to pinpoint anyway. Good luck in bagging him.

If he was a mature Buck don't count on seeing him for at least a week in the area around your stand, but he will most likely come back to your area at some point. Though when & if he does, he will be very cautious & wary, so make sure your scent is covered as much as possible & the wind is working for you.

i shot at a buck opening morning and i missed.came back the next weekend and shot him about 10 yards from where i shot at him the first time. it may have been the rut or he was just plain stupid. he will not have to worry anymore cause he is in my freezer now.

From experience, he will most likely be back as long as that is his regular travel area. If you are seeing a lot of does the chance is definitely increased because he will most likely come chasing one down before too long.

that also depends on how used they are to seeing people. the deer in my area are spooked a couple days a week by people so they dont seem to mind as much. but if it is a really smart buck then he may not be back there.
