I didn't answer the poll...... B/C it depends. Depends on what kind of shot is presented? in what kind of situation? and how far? I like to wait until the deer is quartering so I don't have to hit any shoulder bone and waste meat, at close range and w/the right shooter a neck shot will drop them on the spot. I don't recommend this but it works[:-]. The only shot that will drop a deer on the spot is the spine. I have had double lung/dbl shoulder hit deer run 200yds w/.50cal muzzleloader shooting350gr solid lead bullets........ anybody could follow the blood trail but it went farther than I thought it would

If the animal is close enough the head but most of the time right behind the shoulder or right on it.

i try for right behind the shoulder too cause its the most surface area for the bullet to hit.

I had a complete broadside shot a couple of weeks ago and took it, apon field dressing i saw that i managed to hit both lungs and barelt part of the heart, i actually severed the aorta which would result in immediate death by itself, i always aim right behind the shoulder on a complete broadside shot, i would aim in front of or behind though depending on whether the deer was quartered towards me or away from me,

I go for the boiler room on deer. I crowd the front shoulder on it's bigger cousin the elk.

Airbags, unless terrain or nearby hunters made meneed him down right where he stood. Then it would be the shoulder.

That high shoulder shot will put them on the ground RIGHT NOW. However a quick finishing shot is usuall required.
