sorry if i mess up the story, but a close hunting friend of mine sent me this pic and story in a email, so im jus quoting it word for word and placing in pics. correct me if im wrong.....

Subject: Worlds largest deer

Timberghost Ranch ( http://www.timberghostranch.com) is in SE Iowa. A portion of the ranch is completely enclosed in high fence & is no doubt where this monster was killed. In Iowa, landowners with property completely enclosed by high fence OWN the deer (after they first purchase from the state what ends up fenced in) and they can therefore hunt with rifles from early September thru late March when the property is also licensed by the state as a Hunting Preserve.
>He gross scored 235 and typical scored 223. A new typical record by SCI
>record book. In the picture on the truck he is next to a deer that scores

That buck is a MONSTER!!! I hate that it was possibly killed in a pen. Pen or not, he has to have super genetics to grow a rack like that.

if he was kept inside the fences of that ranch, no matter how big it is...i dont consider it hunting. thats farming. grow em big, then go get the crop. just took them longer to find the crop to harvest him.

gotta agree get blown. even though part of this ranch is not under "high fence", it is still the home grown deer hunting preserve. i jus wonder what kind of deer would be there if there was only a 4 ft barb wire fence instead of 8 or 9 ft cross wire. i know this topic has been beaten to death, and thats not my point. i jus dont understand how they can even get them that big.

I wonder if they drew straws to see who would get to shoot him? I would have an empty feeling in my stomach to shoot an animal like that out of a pen.

It was not a free ranging animal. That's why it was only considered for the SCI record book and not Boone and Crocket.

i think the WR high fenced buck is 333 inches or sumtin like that so hes not even cloes to the csi world record.

he probably walked up to it petted it on the head feed it a little corn walked back to 20 yards and shot him.

bar of soap- actually there has never been a typical killed even close to 300. i think yur thinkin of the world record boone and crockett NONtypical which was 333 and change and picked up on the road in missouri. this says it is the world record sci typical deer.

sci is safari club international. like a boone and crockett with less rules and includes every type big game animal in world. not jus big game native to north america

how is that deer on the right only 30 inches bigger than the one on the left??? i mean hes gotta be 7-8 inches wider alone. Let alone every tine being longer by 6+ inches.

You guys must not understand something about high fenced deer. They still hace anywhere from 250 to 1000 acres to roam freely its not a walk in the park to shoot these kinda deer.. I cant believe the ignorance of some of you.. their not pets dogs are pets cats are pets.... not penned deer that have tonz of ground to roam. come on people get a clue. I happen to live in iowa and kno where timberghost is and its not an easy place to kill a big whitetail and many people go home empty handed. so lets get our facts straight about this high fence thing. Its not like its a 5 acre pen stocked with 300 hundred deer its a challenge geeeezeeeeee.

that is a mighty fine buck but to tell you the truth... I would rather just catch a glimpse of that buck on my oun property that shoot him on a ranch where there is a positive 110% chance to tag him. hunting is not stacking odds in your favor. especially if that animal doesn't have a chance to escape. you might as well be a vegetarian.

Yep, you can see where the rails of the chute rubbed all the hair off his sides. LOL! And you can see where they pulled the ear tag as well. Yep that's one beautiful cow... oops I mean deer.
