Remington 3" Slugger Duds! Anyone else?

Anyone ever have a problem with Remington 3" Slugger Magnum not firing?

I want ask first before I tell my story. I'm trying to rule out the gun (Rem 870 Magnum Special Purpose 12 guage 3") I think if you are a real deer hunter you may get teary eyed.

GOD BLESS

Thats all we use and never have had this problem. I left a box out in the garage from one season to the next and they all fired.

I had a guy from that works in the place where I bought these mention something about the primers being set to low or something and that some other guys had some problems. They shoot right on and are the most accurate slugs I can find. I already took a healthy 6 pointer with them on the first day of the season this year. I've never had this problem with the gun though.

The conditions were very cold (16 degrees F without the wind) and the third shell finally shot after I had to cycle out the first two. I don't know which shell came out first but one had a small dimple in the primer and the next one a one a little bigger. I didn't find the emty casing yet.

I'm wondering if the firing pin was gummed up or something and it took 3 tries to get it out with it being so cold.

Dropper-

The primer is set too deeply in the shell.

Take a look at the primer and i'll bet there is just a faint firing pin dent.

Compare these "duds" ( THEY ARE NOT DUDS! BE CAREFUL AND DISPOSE OF PROPERLY - MAYBE IN BOTTOM OF LAKE OR SOMEWHERE ELSE WHERE NO ONE CAN GET HURT WITH THEM ) to other rounds and you'll notice the primer set depth difference.

I've seen this happen before. A bunch of them in the same boxes.

Iit wouldn't be very nice to have happen to you with that big buck in your sights would it ?!?!?!?!

After discovering this problem, I said I'd never chamber another round without looking at the primer VERY closely.

At $2.00/box........ever hear you get what you pay for?

Try some Brenekke Rottweil's - you'll never go back. German quality.
The German's are well known as the finest craftsman in the world!

Now....."Go Get Ya One!" ( Check your ammo first - LOL )
