Nothing goes to waste 'round here

Just got finished proccesing the doe I took on Saturday. Nothing and I mean nothing went to waste except the skin. I fired up the pit for some deer steaks and I burned the leg bones on the pit and gave it to the dogs, even all of the fat and silver skin was cooked and fed to my dogs. I gave them the head on sunday when I got back and that was gone by today.
Even my little chiuaua ate good today. My dogs love deer season.

I had a bunch of scrap from last year in the freezer, neck, shoulders, flanks, forearms and stuff. I ground it up on Monday and made some sausage. I mix pork and deer 50-50. I ended up making 100 pounds of sausage. Like I said nothing goes to waste, I save it all, even scrap, it makes good sausage. Even through a few hearts in it.

MY dogs find and eat much worse out here in the boonies.

A fellow at our camp throws the odd head to the dogs, yeah its gross, but not as bad as the dogs always dissapearing out into the bush to feed at the gut piles.

not real sure why people are surprised by dogs eating any thing and everything, afterall they are just domesticated coyotes and wolves.

up north here in the states where CWD has been found, that probably wouldnt be the best idea, but if your deer are healthy, why not. congrats on the deer, sounds like good eatin

My dog loves deer season too , she gets all but the really nasty stuff . I have to admit though , watching her wolf down a "johnny" kinda makes me wince sometimes ... [&:]

My German Shepherd goes absolutely nuts over every deer I get. If I mearely pick up my arrow and return home before tracking -- he knows I got something. I throw everything I don't consume out in the backyard (except the gutpile left in the woods). My dog gets the lion's share of everything, but in a few days, some of the stuff that was there the night before can be found halfway across the yard or gone altogether. My wife says it looks like a graveyard in our backyard during deer season!
