mix breeds
The area of Teaxs that I hunt has Mule deer and whitetail both. We are seeing whitetail racks on mule deer bodies and visa versa. My question is what tag do i use on one, mule deer or whitetail tag?

RE: mix breeds
Scope the Rack! Mule Deer have Bi-Forkual antlers and have Mule ears!
Mule Deer antlers are normally smaller and branch to form 2 equal forks, while the male White-tailed Deer has forward curving antlers with a number of points (tines) branching from the main beam. |

RE: mix breeds
I think you would put the tag on the one that has the appropriate body. If it has a mule body but whitey antlers i think the wardens would take the body over the body antlers cause there is more factors on the body determining what breed it is compared to just the antlers. Now if it was a dark grey color like a mulie and big tail with white under it such as a whitey and smaller ears and antlers like a mulie well then id say its kind of 1/2 a dozen in one a 6 in the other. I would just tag the animal with w/e tag you want cause if you were to get challenged by a warden you would have many points to support the theory as to why you taged it with that tag.
