Doe call with comb/card

I have heard from a couple other experienced hunters about how they make a contact call with deer. The call is done by drawing a playing card or piece of thick flexible plastic across the corrugated side of the grunt tube or a comb.

It is similar to a card on the spoke of a bike wheel but lower in frequency.

They have referred to this call like it is completely unknown in the deer hunting world. Referencing that in years of watching shows/vidoes/seminars and talking with other hunters only 1 time has any other hunter referred to this type of sound.

They also refer to this as the MOST realistic and reliable call in the deer woods.

Curious to know if anyone else makes this sound in a similar way.

I can honestly say I have never heard that, but sounds interesting. I for the first time two years ago in 20 years of hunting actually heard a buck makeing grunt noises in the field I hunt over. Pretty neat stuff and it sounded just like the grunt calls you buy over the counter. I have a doe grunt call, but never heard an actual doe grunt.

I think you would almost describe this as a low pitched wheeze. A little variation on the vibrating sound the reed makes on a grunt tube I think.

the doe grunt is short and lower in tone or not as deep as a buck grunt. this year i have heard two does do it and its been a first for me to. dont know why they were doing it really but its pretty neat.
