RE: 400 yard trophy?
I would have confidence in either my 7mmWSM or my 25-06

RE: 400 yard trophy?
Why? The 243 has a flatter trajectory and more enrgy then a 308win. out to 500 yards as aA Navel & Military test have proven! The 243 was actually created by necking down a 7.62mm NATO case,a.30cal. or(308).[ (Winchester figures). The .243 is more lethal at 500 yards than the 5.56mm NATO (.223)or 7.62x39 (308) are at 200 yards! [/quote] |
RE: 400 yard trophy?
.308

RE: 400 yard trophy?
I don't have any experience shooting at a distance of 400 yards,so no I wouldn't shoot.I would do my darndest though to get within a range I am comfortable and confidant with.

RE: 400 yard trophy?
Would definetly shoot. Have had one oppurtunity like that in Montana, killed a big 8 point at 456 yards with a 7 mag.
|
RE: 400 yard trophy?
I wouldn't be the first buck that I have taken at 400 yards. I have no problem reaching out and touching them at that distance with my 7mm mag.

RE: 400 yard trophy?
I voted yes. I shot a deer once at almost 400 yards with a 270. I shoot long distances pretty regularly and depending on the wind and shot angle I would shoot.

RE: 400 yard trophy?
My bow won't shoot that far.:)

RE: 400 yard trophy?
At 400 yards its not hunting IMO. Thats shooting. You might as well put a super high powered scope on your gun and stay home and shoot out of your windows at the deer on your property a few miles away. Not hunting.

RE: 400 yard trophy?
If I could not getcloser then400 ydsto any deer, I think I would quit hunting.
