What rifle caliber do you use for your whitetail hunting?

RE: What rifle caliber do you use for your whitetail hunting?
So, in the "others", we have
300 Savage (1)
44 Rem. Mag. (1)
300 Win. Mag. (3)
500 S&W (1)
338 Win. Mag (1)
325 WSM (1)
7mm. Rem. Mag. (2)
That's so far, I may not be totally correct.
It seems that the .300 Win. Mag. is the most popular "other" caliber, but it's being closely followed by the 7mm Rem. Mag.
(I think it's a Rmington caliber.)

About 95% of the time I am in the woods with the 30-30. Sometimes I like to carry my sidelock muzzleloader for a change. The other 5% is with the .270. If I could get to the hill country in Texas more often, the .270 would get more work.

Does anybody use a .257 Roberts? So far, nobody's voted for it.
It is a more rare caliber, so I guess I should come to expect that.

Mostly my .243 but lately it's been with my .22 Hornet. Some places where I hunt are really tight and thick so shots are pretty close, I just bust them in the neck with the hornet.

I voted .30-06 b/c thats what I have used for the last couple of yrs.But my favorite deer caliber is the 6.5x55SM. I gave that to my wife so I get to shoot my moose rifle at deer until I can buy/build another. I have another swede mil spec but don't want to convert it. It would be .257Roberts Ackley IMP. Deer don't needmuch more than a good 1/4 bore to kill as far as I care to shoot.
