RE: what slugs group the best?
Well thanks for all the advice. But i tried the hornady sst and they were grouping in a 4in diam andi was shooting at 50 yds with a rifled barrel. And i heard that you cant shoot the lightfields over 75yds is that true?

ummm....what I've heard is that lightfeilds will sometimes group awesome at 50yards and then something happens and they turn to crap at 100yards. But thats only going to be certain guns and that's only hear-say. I've had luck with lightfeilds (2 3/4") and Federals (don't recall the name, a copper or copper plated sabot). By luck I mean good groups at 50yards which is really frustrating to me because I've spent all this money and still don't have anything that I can shoot better than my .44mag pistol. And if I'm limited to 50yards you best believe I'll tote a 3lbs pistol over a 8-9lbs shotgun anyday.
I'm getting ready to try agian this year. I'm going to try buckhammers, coppersolids, the remington corlokt offering, and the federal with barnes bullets. All will be 2 3/4 cause they are punishing enough as they are, my shotgun will never be a "flat-shooter" and they're are expensive enough as they are without going to 3". What I will do different is two things. One, I lightened the trigger on my 870 (which in regard to rifles was AWEFUL); and two, I will take my time and clean & cool between every shot. I'm feed up with guys talking about 2" and 3" groups with identical setups to mine while I can only pray for a 8" group[:@]!!

Last week I sighted in my Nova, rifled barrel, Bushnell Holosight, and could hit a clay pidgeon at 105 yds with the Hornady SST's (stuck in the berm past the targets, not on the fly). Wouldn't try it with a smooth bore though.

erichix,
I have the same gun. It is a great gun. I shot remingtons, winchesters, lightfields, and federals, but the ammo that shot the best for me was Breneke, and not the top line. THE KO SABOTS!!!
Try it all its what ever your particular sweety likes.
