shot and missed

I was deer hunting last night (black powder) and i shot at a deer and missed. How long should i let the spot cool off before i can go back and hunt?

Depend where you live, but if they are starting to run doe, go back to it. If its still prerut, wait maybe a week.

I've killed deer out of the same stand two days in a row.

How many deer were around when you shot?

I have hunted deer before were I had shot and missed with my rifle to find the same deer at the same spot like clock work the following day. Unfortunately for the deer I hadn’t made that same mistake a second time...

I think it depends on the hunting pressure, ive shot a deer in the morning, went back the same evening and deer were in the same field ...

RE: shot and missed

I was sitting on a limb in a Live Oak Tree and missed a 10pt at over 200 yards with a .30-30 and the dang deer came back running right under the tree and I couldn't find him in the scope, so I fired and missed again.

Well, I said maybe next time and the next morning I did the oak tree thing again and Lord and behold, here he comes again at between 50 and 60yds in front of me, I held my breath and as soon as he gave me a shot I took him out!

If I miss, I still go to the same place!

RE: shot and missed

Three weeks ago, my son was in the stand and I was driving. Two does came by and he shot the biggest one (870 20ga). I heard the shot and started working toward him. Not 2 minutes after he took the doe, an 8pt and a 10 pt came sauntering by and hung out. I took about 10-15 minutes to work my way to him (just in case he missed and needed another shot), and when I got there, the bucks were still hanging around within about 25 yds of the tree he was in. The second doe even came back. (I'm still kicking myself for not having two tags...)
