My buddy got me out of my blind on saturday and said he shot a doe with his bow. We waited a couple hours to start tracking and my buddy said that he thought it was a clean shot. I found out later that it probably wasn't. I picked up the blood trail and followed it for about three hundred yards. The doe went into heavy coverand followed the trail 300 yards both uphill and down. It got dark so we had to call it a night. The next day on the trail we found something that I haven't run into before, there was a mixture of blood, urine, and a strong smell of estrus about the size of dinner plate. After combing the cover we later found another spot but no deer. The blood trail endedshortly after.What does this say about the shot? We did comb the cover thoroughly for about 6 hours, and I feel confident that the deer was not there but I am interested on what happened to the deer.
