300 win. mag. which grain & ammo is best for white
Which ammo & grain would best be suited for whitetail deer. Shots could be near and far.
I have a 300 win. mag. bolt action with 24 inch barrel. |

150 ,168 and 180 are all great bullets for whitetails with a win mag.

the only load i really liked was 150 trophy bonded bear claws.others worked but not how i really wanted then to. close range when you velocity is high the bullet stays intact and long range it still gas enough knock down. a close second i would shoot any grain scirrocco thru it. remington is suppose to load them now and from what i've seen the are awesome all around bullets. just my 2 cents

I use 150 grain Remington corelokt's for deer and feraL hogs. I get quick kills and groups around an inch with this factory load.

I've got a Browning A-Bolt in .300 WinMag. I shoot 150 grain Hornady Customs in it, and it works like a charm!

There's no reason to use anything larger than a properly constructed 150 gr. bullet out of any 30 caliber for deer.

I use 150 grain Remington CoreLokts if I use off the shelf ammo.

Isn't using a .300 Win Mag for whitetail a bit like using a .243 to go squirrel hunting?
Yes, I know a lot of hunters are useing them for whitetail, but I also hear a lot of them complain about complete bullet "pass thru", without transfering enough shock to the animal, and ending up having to trail them for long distances to find them.
