First
Well i shot my first deer last night very cool. But draging her out of the wood was another thing. What a pain doing that she was heavy about 140 150 not to sure didnt get her weight. But still very cool.

As they say, the fun stops after you take the shot.Congrats on the first deer though. Need some pics.

RE: First
Keep an eight orten foot piece of small nylon rope in your pocket. After you kill the deer cut a short piece of tree to make a good handle and then tie the other end around the deer's neck/antlers and it will be easier to drag than pulling on a leg or the antlers.

RE: First
Congrats, I'm guessing it was a doe because of the "her".

RE: First
I would highly suggest making life easier on yourself and getting a deer cart. I just checked out Dick's weekly ad and they have one on sale for $80. This was our first year with it and I tell you what, it made a tough job a heck of a lot easier on my hubby!
The store clerk gave us an excellent idea as well... the tires that come on them aren't "all terrain", but he suggested going to a local medical supply store and picking up wheelchair tires for about $20. He said it will make a world of difference, makes it even easier. Next year I will probably buy a couple and switch 'em out. |

Congrats on your first.

RE: First
I do have a pic but its from my cell phone and it was getting dark and the pic is not that good. And just so you know that was the exit not where it entered. And i do have a drag line but that was so hard doing that alone i plan on getting one of those carts because i do hunt alone so i have no one to help me draga deer out of the woods. But still i think shes a nice one for my first deer.
