Splitrock Camp
 

Over the next couple of months I will share some history of our deer shack! There's so much to tell i will have to spread it out!

The shack was started in 1946 by my grandpa and his 3 buds! It all started with a 10x10 tarpaper and balsam pole shack on leased land! After a few complications with the land owner, they decided it was time to buy a 40! They bought the next 40 over in 1958 for $36 bucks!! Over the next few years they built a new shack on their own land!
Since the completion of the shack, we have kept a journal! We even have some writing from earlier than 60 that was filled in from 1 of the guys personal journals!This is where"The Splitrock Story"will come from!! I will end here for now, but much more to come in the coming weeks!!!
Here is a picture of the shack from 2004, but it hasn't changed much!!

And going into deer season the timing of this "rock story" is good. I think I can smell some bacon cookin..........

I can't wait to get to camp this season!
