RE: Deer Head, how much is it worth?
I Oklahoma its worth about 10 yrs and a hefty fine. Illegal to sell any part of legally taken game. Check your state regulations.

As others have said, someone elses rack is worthless to me, but I know there are idiots who will pay big bucks for big racks to be able to lie about thier big kill!

If your friend is not concerned about being a trophy hunter, great! But a 16 point buck? That is at least worth a look at every now and then for the memory. Tell him to bleach the skull and hang it from the front gable of his house, it will drive his wife nuts.
I would like to know the weight of a brute like that. If it crawls it falls, if it flies it dies. |
RE: Deer Head, how much is it worth?
I would give him about 7-8 dollars for it as a set of rattling antlers. Not really. I highly suggest doing a full shoulder mount, cause chances are he won't ever see another like that.

I wouldn't care for it like the rest of the guys said, however, you can sale the rack on ebay. Just type in antlers on ebay and you'll see several pages of racks. Depending on size, some of them bring several hundred dollars. I buy some racks for craft purposes. I don't like to cut up the racks I've taken.

RE: Deer Head, how much is it worth?
I don't have a price on what it would be worth but if the deer scores very high on the Boone and Crocket scoring system it is probably worth a fair amount of money. From $200 on up to several thousand. It's just hard to say.
Personally, I wouldn't sell it for any price. However, I disagree with some of these guys. I'd love to own it. Considering I don't have alot of money, I couldn't give much more than $50 for it even if it was a big buck. Sure I'd never cherrish the rack like one I had hunted and killed but it is still an awesome set of antlers. I don't hunt just for the kill. I'd love to have a huge buck mounted on my wall just to look at and admire, even if I didn't kill it. The beauty of a big buck does not diminish just because my bullet or arrow didn't kill it. -------------------------------------------- Hunting the Piney Woods of Deep East Texas. |
RE: Deer Head, how much is it worth?
If thats why he is out hunting is to shoot bucks to sell the antlers then he shouldent be hunting he should let bucks like that go for the hunter that is out there working hard to shoot one like that to have on the wall and if he looked in you hunting regulations and laws book it probly isnt a good idea to sell them

Here in Alberta you can register a bucks rack (or mounted deer) with Fish & Wildlife and then you can legally sell them. I have a couple B&C bucks that I am going to get registered for sale. I love to look at them every day and remember the hunts I took them on. I will not likley sell them as long as I'm alive. But one day when I'm sitting in that big tree stand in the sky, my wife or kids may want to turn then into needed cash. And someone who wants to hang them on his wall to admire is then welcome to buy them then.

EBAY... Check out Ebay.com and uyou will find hundreds of antlers on there... I saw one set that was in great shape and scored 213+ and it sold for over $2000, Yeah that is 2K, but it will have to be in great shape, and be very larle for that price... But to me the rack in my trophy room and the memories that go with it are worth far more then that... Good Luck out there...
