Question for the hunters

Hello to all, Have you ever thought about the deer mixing with the turkeys and squirrels? I mean I have noticed this alot this year... If the squirrels are cutting heavy that I don't see alot of deer movement. And when I've seen quite a few turkeys then little to no deer movement. Seems like in the pastif deer were coming in the squirrels would just stop or at least slow down the cutting. And the turkeys would move off but this year seems liek the deer are staying away! I've bowhunted a few days this year and the only deer I've seen are in the fields after I move off stand. Anybody else seeing this?

Yea I've seen alot of turkeys , squirrels and deer sharing the woods together.
Seems natural for them not to be alarmed when there in the same area.
They don't pose to a threat to each other so they just go about there own bisseness.
Fact is I think it helps when hunting to see other animals around.
If the deer see turkeys and squirrels around then they would feel its safe to be in the same area too.

RE: Question for the hunters

I have often seen turkeys and deer mixing. In fact, just last Friday afternoon while on stand in the drizzling rain I saw about 11 turkeys from afar. They made their way into my area and within 15 minutes I had 2 bucks an a doe. I think the deer see the turkeys and rely on the turkeys for surveillance duties and feel much safe...that is my opinion.

I've seen deer and turkeys feed together plenty of times , and I'd swear that deer use squirrels for an early warning system sometimes .

Squirrels can be a giveaway for deer, too. On a number of occasions, I have seen squirrels raising hell in a tree right over bedded down deer.

Nothing funnier than watching a deer fawn chase some turkeys in an open field. I also had a fawn playing with my turkey decoys last spring, until mom got tired of the commotion and stomped my decoys. LMAO!!!
