MISSED A BIG ONE NEED HELP
I shot at a nice buck this morning and guess what i missed...
I was using my muzzleloader he turned and walked in like a fast walk away from the place ... Ok i went to see if i could find any blood ...
Did not find one drop all i seen was a big big get away track.
As i was looking for blood by now i know i have missed him Ok and as i was looking i found a scape. My question is will this buck be back to the same spot??? i hope i get another chance. Please help me out on the question will he be back to work this scape agian or will he avoid this spot forever and never be back.
Thanks Travis H.

Hard to say. Hope you didn't leave alot of sent while checking for blood.
If you saw a scrape and it was active, at least you should have a chance. I would give it a day or two and when you go back out use some buck sent and rattle a little to give the impression that other deer/bucks are around.
If that was his scrap and he is any where around he will more than likely come in to check it out.
Good luck!

Hard to say as far as individual deer go, but I've seen em' come back. I missed a buck once twice in a two week period from the same stand walking down the same run at the same time of day. He has not yet given me a third chance.

RE: MISSED A BIG ONE NEED HELP
Mossberg, My dad missed a 140 B&C buck two years ago with a rifle. He took three shots at him. He did not run away. He just walked quickly into the brush and disappeared. Needless to say, he was sick. We went and checked his rifle and he was shooting about 8 feet high at 100 yards. After resetting the gun, he went back to the stand not really expecting to see anything after the morning fiasco. That afternoon, about sundown, the same buck came back in to along the same trail checking scrapes. My dad did not miss that time. One shot is all it took. My opinion is if the buck was not really scared, he may come back. It doesn't hurt to hunt there again. You never know. Allen

mossberg did he look in the direction you were shooting from? If he did then you may want to move your stand 15-20 feet, because if he is smart he will always look where the shot come from for a long time. Give the area at least a one or two day break, more than likely he will be back, but at first he probably will come through earlier than he did this morning and will be very on edge, he needs to regain his confidence in that area being safe. When you go back make sure you are in your new stand location earlier and make sure the wind is in your favor and you are motionless, he will be leary for a while. Good Luck. Oh one more thing, since you know his travel route try and avoid at all cost walking on it.

Mossberg, very good question , deer are like people, we all re-act differently. I am not sure what that buck will do, but I suggest to go in their and take a stick and scratch the ground up where the scrape is and put some tinks 69 in it and you will be able to tell if he is still there. If those big boys are rutting in your area they only have one thing on their minds and they ain't thinkin right, kinda been their once before in my life.<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>
