well since this will be only my 6th season, started at 10, i guess i could say i am somewhat new. My biggest mustake is not practicng and familiarizing myself with the weapon before it is season and too late, and getting buck fever while rushing the shot. New hunters need to take their time and not set their expectations too high because they will probably be dissapointed.

Lack of scouting........ leads to flying blind......... leads to impatience when you get out there....... leads to running through the woods like Danny Boone.

Do your homework, trust what you know, sit still and be patient!

I believe the biggest is impatience. For all the new or novice hunters enjoy the journey,it's all good and it keeps on getting better!

ORIGINAL: Charlie P

Watching too many tv shows and reading too many magazine articlesand not spending time learning the woods you hunt.
Other than this......^(charlie stole my thoughts)

I think they believe opening day they get to go into the woods and bust a deer. C'mon learn how to scout, learn the deer sign, learn their bedding areas, feeding areas, etc.
STOP BEING LAZY!

Patience Patience Patience. You need to find a good location and sit quietly with very little movement and none if possible. If you have to move around a bit.......do it slowly, don't make any sudden movements and lastly Keep your eyes peeled at all times....You never know where or when a deer will show up...

One more thing.....HAVE FUN!!!

This might only apply out west where we have to trudge up and down mountains, but not being in sufficient physical shape.
