2 inch spike versus 6 inch spike.........

I know they were born two springs ago but why the difference if they are from the same area? Is it genetics or could they have been born two to three months apart? Studies have shown that the two incher will make up ground 3 years down the road.

I had them both under my tree Nov5th and today the 2 inch spike could have been taken by me again. I choose to let them pass and hope they make it another year.

Could be the genetics thing. We killed a 4 inch spike on our lease last year that the game wardens said was 3 years old. He had a big body but hardly any horns. We were glad to get him out of the gene pool.

it seems the time they were born most of the time. one early spring the other late.

my wife took a 3 point that weighted 125lbs.(most of our deer are BIG at that weight)his horns were 3 1/2" long. I am not real good on the teeth aging thing, but I guessed 3 to 4 years old.

it is something thats hard to understand.

I am not a hunter I am a whitetail population reduction specialest

remember keep your back to the sun, your knife sharp, and your powder dry.
