Bad news on my mineral lick
Went today to pull my card from gamecam, and put corn in feeder, and noticed that my mineral lick looked pretty well used after only 10 days. There was a definite 3-4" depression in the ground already. I hoped to see some pics from the camera, as I had put the lick between my camera and feeder. Unfortunately, I found out from the pics that the hogs like the mineral lick too. In last two weeks, nearly all of my pics have been the pigs. Scouted out an alternative site just about 60-80 yds away from my present spot. May hunt that with a ground blind, but I don't think I will put out any corn or mineral, as the pigs would just take over. [:@]

Want to take one, or some, but it's been so stinking hot that I don't really want to go out and hunt, let alone clean one. Might try for one before gun season, but I definately plan on hunting for some starting in January.

RE: Bad news on my mineral lick
Last year we had a pack of Coyotes take over one of our licks. They would roll around in it, lick it, dig in it and I think even sleep in it. We put the salt out and even had a regular cattle block in the mix. After about two months they had a hole in the ground about 3 feet in diameter and 1 foot deep.
They never bothered our other licks though, that was odd.

damned that sucks, now if you were in wisconsin you could shoot them year round as long as you have a small game license, unless youre a land owner and hunt your own land, thenm you dont need a small game license.

Open season here, all the time. No bag limits. Just not to pleasant with temps 100 degrees or higher and high humidity. One of my lease members has used a trap to take at least 100 in last yr and a half. He's put it on hold with the heat though. That, and the fact that his 3 freezers are full. [8D]

That all depends on where you are in AR we can take feral hogs in any open season with anything legal to hunt with in that season.
I'd take a big hog in the freezer!
