RE: Any idea on a rough score??
One thing to remember is that the buck that I posted a reference picture of was a mature Saskatchewan buck weighing over 300lbs on the hoof. The 4x4 above it is a texas buck, which will have a significantly smaller body and head.In other words the bigger the deer, the smaller the antlers look on it's head. The 146 buck was 20" wide with g-2s over 10" and g-3s over 8",but the brows were quite small or it would have broken 150.

Guys just because a buck is from Texas, doesn't discredit his antler size. A 150" buck is a 150" no matter where, regardless if he has a 1000# body or not. And that picture is from a deer that we KILLED, there is no need to guess his score because we already know it.......
Here are the measurements from that deer.
Inside spread 20 0/8"
Beams 24 0/8" 23 4/8"
G1 5 2/8"7 0/8"
G2 12 7/8" 12 4/8"
G3 5 0/8"10 2/8"
H1 6 1/8" 6 2/8"
H2 5 2/8" 5 1/8"
H3 4 1/8"4 4/8"
H4 2 4/8" 2 7/8"
Total mass measurement = 36 3/8" (which is HUGE for an 8 pointer, because of where you have to take the H4)
Total Gross measurement = 155 6/8"
StubbleJumper, my 8 beats yours on pretty much every measurement, even though your buck hasa 300# body

I am in now way discreditting the TX deer at all. You scored the deer, so you physically had the antlers in your hand. It went 155. As for a picture though, you can't tell by looking at it, that yours was bigger. Texas deer are known for their smaller bodies making their racks appear larger. Therefore, the 155 on your deer looks tons bigger than a 155 on a Canadian deer. Its hard to rough score deer from other areas of the country because we are used to how are deer look. For example, most of the deer around here in Illinois, once mounted have an eye-set, measure of outside eyeball to eyeball, of about 5.5-6 inches. However, I would bet anything the heads on those canadian bucks are quite a bit larger that Illinois bucks, and the heads on TX bucks are smaller than Illinois bucks. Just my opinion.

Swampy, very nice buck! I'd say he's pushing 170! But he has at least 12 scoreable points vs. an 8 pointer. Thats almost apples to oranges! It takes a hell of a lots of mass and width for an 8 to come close to a 12!
From the pictures of the 8 pt. at a side view, you can't see the width really good, and both are still in velvet! Just from the pics I'd say those bucks would have a hard time making 150, and with the tine lengths on Stubby's buck, if it's 146, there is no way the 8 is bigger!
Not knocking any of these bucks, but it is hard to judge from pics!
