RE: 57" rattlesnake
We dont see to many canebreak rattlers here but have more than our share of western diamond backs, it's just one of those things we have to deal with here in South Texas. Nice snake though, my biggest rattler is 72 inches taken many years ago.

RE: 57" rattlesnake
Those canebreak are some pretty snakes. Too bad they can kill you. I killed a diamondback this summer that ate a rat killed one buy it and killed a rabbit. I accidently shot the rattlers off. It was as long as my shoulders down and I am 5 10. I killed it behind my little girls swing set. SCARY.

This was a road kill picked up by a relative - makes the hair stand up on my neck! We have to worry mostly about copperheads but on a rare occasion you can find one of these - the timber rattler -

i seen one about that size when i was a kid growing up in alabama. at least the rattlesnake warn you when they bite the cotton mouths don't, but it does make you think.

RE: 57" rattlesnake
I grew up in P.A. near Morris where they have the rattlesnake round up every year. Used to catch them myself. Anyway, I've seen and caught a lot of timber rattle snakes and that one is awsome. The largest I ever caught was 52".
