RE: The rut
I love the second week in November from the 7 up to when they close the season around the 11th this year...If you look in the RA game book they explain that the reason the season is completely closed for deer the last two weeks of november is because this is when the peak of the rut or breeding phase is and they are trying to protect the bucks.
I try and follow the moon phases (you know the week following the second full moon after teh fall solstice in september which varies every year from the last week in october through the second week in november) but anytime from holloween through the end of the season is my favorite time.

man are you nuts, you seem to know it all rooking. How exactly do you knwo this? The rut occours different days every year. Depending on weather, light conditions, and moon phase, if its a warm fall the rut may not kick in untill mid to late nov. Deer dont like to move when its warm.
