RE: .243 win
I own 1 high power rifle. It is a 243. I've killed deer out to around 350 yards with it. Even at that distance the deer did not go very far because he had no lungs and a very messed up shoulder! A 7 mag wouldn't have killed that deer any better. Like others have said, the key is shot placement.Good shot placement comes from a good shot, which is achieved by good shooting. I'd rather shoot my 243 because its heavy (figure around 10 lbs loaded), stable, drives tacks, and has little to no recoil. I've had bigger calibers rifles, butI could not shoot those well. Shoot what your most comfortible with.
