bought a 270
any experiences with the 270 and deer hunting. I hunted with a 30-30, but want more knock down power. Most shots are 50-75 yards. What's your experiences

RE: bought a 270
The .270 is a great cartridge for deer!! You'll love it!! What manufacturer and model gun did you get?

RE: bought a 270
I hunted deer off and on with .270 & 130gr for many years.

RE: bought a 270
great choice, don't own one but have shot several, seems like every one of them was a good shooter;)

RE: bought a 270
You picked a great caliber.
It's a flat shooting rifle out to 300 yards and has enough knock down power to take down an elk. I used a 270 before I decided to get into archery. I loved that rifle and still use it for coyotes and other varmits. |
RE: bought a 270
i own a .270 great deer gun. ive gotten 4 deer in 2 years with it.

RE: bought a 270
The only rifle I've hunted with for over 35years. Great bullet selection and will take anything in North America (Jack O'Connor). I really like the Hornady 140 grain Lt.Mag. BTSP

RE: bought a 270
Thats what I use. Remington 7400 with 130 grains. It puts them down big time. I have had only 3 deer take another step in my 14 years of using it and 45 deer later. Great caliber.

RE: bought a 270
Read some books and articles by Jack O'Connor - one of the finest, most dependable hunting calibers ever. I've killed nearly everything I've ever killed with that gun. I trust it with my life.

RE: bought a 270
I have both the 30-30 and 270. Both are great for deer. Not sure at those distances the deer will know the difference.
Good luck with the new gun |
