good info, i killed a nice buck one year, when a farmer came to check on his cows one morning, the buck was bedded down in a cut over, heard the man on his gator, and stood up as if he was going to leave. but only started feeding instead. i later told the farmer, laughing, he replied you owe me.

A little tip for you too.

Try using paragraphs. Too hard to read all jumbled together in one long story.

The reason I did not take the 11 pointer, is it was a young deer.
(new paragraph)
It had no mass and not much for tine length.
(new paragraph)
In a couple years that young 11 point would be a real dandy.
(new paragraph)
Thanks for your tip as well Kybuckhunter, your right makes it easier to read and less jumbled.

Ifeel that it greatly depends on the kind of use that the vehical gets that will determin how effective it is. My friend lives on 20 acres in a suburban area. We bowhunt it just enough to keep the herd healthy but we always walk in. 2 years ago, they had some of the timber thinned out. While we were cutting the logs up and hauling them out we would use his Kubota to pull the trailer and tools. Nearly everyday, we would see deer and they would just stand and watch us pass them and keep eating... we even had a stare off one day and during it, we moved the tractor 3 times without them spooking.

But, if we were to use the tractor as a way to enter and exit the woods for hunting, after the first weekthe deer would get smart and say "doh, the tractor brings them in to shoot us" and would run away when they hear it. Just likecriggster previously stated about his neighbors using fourwheelers frequently to hunt with, the deer know whats up..

But in my situation and one on one's situation, the deer are used to the sound being related with people just passing through to work and not bother them.

It can work but it pretty much depends on the type of interaction (i guess you could say) the deer have had with the vehicals

The deer on our farm are so used to hearing the farmers four wheeler that they just turn their head and look at you when you drive by, and usuallyonly run off when the ATV is shut off. Most of our stands however our in the bottom of deep hollows, or across creeks and you cannot get to them by a four wheeler.

I usually just park around 400-500 yards off and walk slowly the rest of the way.
