Do deer eat
A question came up the other day and I did not know the answere. Do deer eat potatoes?
|
RE: Do deer eat
Here in LA it is illegal to put out sweet potatos (about the only thing illegal to put out) so I guess the answer would be yes. I don't know about regular Idaho potatos.

RE: Do deer eat
They eat all the tuber type crops around here. They will go after all the stuff that stays in a garden especially after the frost. They will dig up potatoes, carrots, beets, turnips etc.

Oh yes! Haven't you ever heard the story of the 'Potatoe Pile Buck' shot in Maine way back when? Maybe we should all plant potato food plots!

RE: Do deer eat
I know they will eat sweet potatoes. We used to have some small ones left over after we
dug ours, so I would put them out for the deer. They didn't last long once they found them. |
RE: Do deer eat

Thanks guys and after reading that story I can't wait to get up to Maine I am going to plant some on my property. I never grew sweet potatoes but it can't hurt to try. |
