I live in harnet county NC and haven't seen 1 deer near my 10 acre property. most of the trees are cut down aroun the land. I do keep live stock like lambs, goats and horses in about 1 acre of the property. there is a creek or some water at the end of the property.
I havent seen a deer nor squirel, racoon etc ever in the 5 year being here. However i have seen some about 2 miles away from my house.
does anyone know what i could do to find out why im not seeing any wildlife. I would really love to find out and go hunting. What can I do to see if they are there. also before we bought the house i did notice a few deer tracks but after that i havent seen one.

sounds like you never have taken the time in sitting out there. Take a day and sit out there you might be suprised.

It could be there is nothing there for them ,no cover ,no feed ,no bedding area . If this is the case you possible never will see anything there . Also they could be only using the area at night. Good luck .

maybe it's because of bigfoot? <img src=icon_smile_tongue.gif border=0 align=middle> check with your local dnr or conservation club and see about if anyone offer's any type of tree's,shrub's or seed mixture's for wildlife,we planted alot of different berry producing shrub's and different grasses and in one year has made a great difference in the animal's never had turkey's and know i almost have to many and deer are holding up where before they would just cross our land to get to another.if you cant find any organization let me know be glad to help we order twice spring and fall

Make it inviting for them. Paulbear has a good ider. Matbe even foodplots. Take a look at the management forum for ideas. They may just not be using your area for many reasons. Maybe you could detail for us your acrage and terrain around your area.

Talk to neighbors to see if they ever see deer moving or bedding for you can get an idea where the deer in your area are at.

My father in law owns about 200 acres in Iowa. I avoided hunting that area for years as I never seen any sign of deer. Last week while I was pheasent hunting I scared to large bucks that were bedding down in almost no cover on a hillside. After talking to area farmers I discovered that they were using the two farms in the area as a funnel.
