Hunting the same stands too much used to be my big fault. That and not using the wind when approaching a stand and only hunting a stand when the wind is right. I now have 15 different treestands on several different farms so that I only hunt stands that will work for the wind and also so as not to overhunt a stand. I NEVER hunt a stand 3 days in a row.

I'd have to say, I have several faults, starting with going out to the stand around 10 a.m. instead of daybreak.(I'm not a morning person at all)Once in the stand, I tend to do anything else except hunt from playing games on my palm pilot, chatting on the cellphone and just having a major Smorgasbord of food and drink with me.

Getting stuck in a rut and not getting aggressive and thinking outside the box.

My biggest fault would be sleeping in the afternoon, right after lunch.

Staying up too late in camp playing poker. Missed more than one
primo morning over it. It sucks being lucky late at night - at least
as far as the deer hunting goes.

Two come to mind:
1. Not doing enough pre-season scouting, and
2. Not moving slowly enough as I "sneak-hunt".

After a few years in Asia not much worries me anymore. Its the peoplethat are dangers not the animals - just keep a Bowie handy for them!

When I find a quality buck during preseason scouting I will concentrate on that animal only. I will carefully selecta few stand locations paying close attention to wind, travel patterns and food sourceand will hunt that area all season until I score. Should I not be fortunate enough to harvest the buck I'm after I will try again next year. Few years have passed in archery seasonthat I was notable to ambush the buck I scouted preseason.
