I live in the northern Black Hills. I see a majority of whitetails during hunting season. Saturday (4-22-06) I saw a bunch of mulies while looking for elk sheds. I think this year if I draw a tag I'm gonna head for some muley country. I can pretty much find a 4x4 whitetail everytime I go out, but thats if you know the country and what the deer do.

I know a group of guys who hunt the Black Hills on the Wyoming side, and they see a little of both.

More whitetails when I'm out there. I do know that they need some good ole feed and then they would get really good size. Nice pretty racks just lack the nutrients for mass

Rumor has it that Muleys push Whitetails out of their areas due to the fact that they're more aggressive...

I just got back from the black hills turkey hunting and boy am I ready to go deer hunting there!!! I've have never seen so many deer, whitetails, muleys, they were everywhere and very relaxed around humans.

Is this because its springtime and they know they are safe or is it always like this???

It's just the time of year. Come hunting time it'll be a whole different story.

last time I checked. Whitetails will chase and kick a muley's butt. Whitetails might give up weight but they are more apt to want to fight and show dominance

The area I hunt in the hills is mainly whitetail ground. You might see a muley doe or 2, but rarely a muley buck thats bigger than a forkie.
