Is deer meat really good for you ?
 

So Im at the deer lease a month ago.......eatingDEER suasage, drinking heavilywhile the smoker burns away........ on the brisket, pork ribs, whole chickens all night .........morning rolls around 7am and we got 3 dozen eggs, 3 lbs of DEER pan sausage, 1 lb of bacon, bisquits, jelly butter, 17 pots of coffee.........haven't slept in 2 days...........hardest work ive ever done....in the texas summer heat..............costs me all my money, most of my time..........dern near my marriage...............Im 250lbs, 5'9"....I fell off the porch and broke my ankle, rolled around on the ground in pain..........thinking this deer huntin is got to be good for me ! YOU KNOW WHAT ?????? I WOULDN"T CHANGE A THING !

Deer meat does not even have fat in it, does it? Anyway, I think it is one of the leanest meats out there, right? Sounds like you are having fun though that is alll that matters. To bad about the broken ankle.

I believe venison meat(deer/moose/elk/caribou) have around 400 caloriesper 8oz. New York type cut steak. All lean meat.If you are to take that same cut steak from beef, you are looking at around 1500 calories.I read it somewhere.....just can`t remember where, makes sense though.

I don't like to eat just plain deer meat. I need to mix my sausage mix with pork or beef, and season it to death. I wouldn't be able to eat just plain deer steaks off the grill. It has an odd smell, and even stranger taste.
